What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with serious illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, lung disease, kidney failure, dementia, and other life-limiting conditions. It focuses on providing relief from symptoms and stress, with the goal of improving quality of life for both the patient and their family.

Unlike hospice care, which is specifically for those in the final stages of life, palliative care can be provided at any stage of a serious illness and can be given alongside curative treatment. Our palliative care team works in partnership with your other doctors to provide comprehensive support.
